CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS IN DIGITAL ORGANISATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

The public sector faces enormous societal challenges. Through our projects, we at Nexer have gained a deep understanding of these challenges, which makes us a reliable partner to develop your organisation through digital solutions for automation or innovation. Our experienced IT specialists in digital transformation do not only have the necessary technical skills, but also a solid knowledge of the unique needs and challenges of the public sector. This means we can offer everything from counselling to developing, implementing, and maintaining customised and sustainable solutions that lead to increased security and efficiency.

CHALLENGES IN THE PUBLIC SECTOR

The public sector is complex, which makes it difficult to generalise about challenges. What is a challenge for one authority or organisation may not necessarily be a challenge for another, as they differ in terms of e.g., area of operation, size, structure, digital maturity, and societal context. A holistic understanding of these factors is therefore crucial for designing effective strategies and solutions. However, there are three challenges that most public organisations face.

skills SHORTAGE

Rapid technological developments and societal changes require the public sector to adapt. At the same time, skills shortages in the public sector are at an all-time high, with vacancies leading to increased workloads. Skills shortages in areas such as digitalisation, data analysis or project management make it difficult to implement necessary changes and innovations, leading to inefficiencies and reduced productivity.

CYBER SECURITY

The public sector often has complex IT environments with many different systems, applications, and networks. This complexity can make it difficult to detect and manage potential security risks. As the public sector handles large amounts of sensitive information, cyberattacks result in serious consequences for society and citizens.

DIGITALISATION

Digitalisation is both a challenge and a solution for the public sector, as organisational development with digital solutions and the introduction of digital systems and processes often involve changes in way of work and how services are delivered. To address these challenges, it’s important to have a well-thought-out digitalisation strategy that includes technical, organisational, and societal aspects.
