Alfa Laval WHE Olmi is part of the Business Unit Welded Heat Exchangers and was originally established as a family-run business in Milan in 1933, Italian Olmi SpA moved to Suisio in 1962 where the company has grown to become a leading business and an approved manufacturer by process licensees of shell-and-tube heat exchangers and air coolers for critical applications in the petrochemical, power and oil and gas industries. In 2010, the company was acquired by Alfa Laval, a global provider of first-rate products in the areas of heat transfer, separation and fluid handling. The collaboration between Alfa Laval and Nexer signifies the commencement of a true partnership. Alfa Laval, renowned for their industry knowledge, sought a partner specialising in Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) within manufacturing, who also possessed a flexible approach, to join their global ERP rollout.
WHE Olmi wanted to migrate from their current Dynamics AX2012 solution, to Alfa Laval’s global D365 template. This would enable them to better align with the Group’s strategic direction and operational requirements.
The AX2012 solution, while functional in the past, will not offer the agility, scalability, and modern features necessary to support Alfa Laval’s overall evolving business needs. This migration is expected to provide a solid and scalable transactional ERP foundation, enabling WHE to efficiently support the Group’s strategic initiatives and adapt to changing market dynamics.
Migration to D365 will also enable:
– Enhanced security preparedness
– Create seamless processes in the system
– Support business growth and efficiency goals
– Work with standardised global processes
Alfa Laval’s strategic approach to achieving its objectives encompasses several key initiatives.
A central team from Alfa Laval, together with Nexer, started the project by identifying WHE Olmi’s business needs and how well it suits the Alfa Laval’s global template. Defining what to implement in relation to these needs. Based on the deliverables from previous phase, the project moves into the realisation with configuration of the standard functionality within Alfa Laval’s global D365 template, customisations of identified gaps, and integrations necessary to satisfy WHE Olmi.
Lastly, the project’s efforts come together for a successful transition to the new D365 solution. Key activities in this phase include User Acceptance Testing, end-user training, the cutover, and the actual move to the new production environment.
Crucially for this project, Alfa Laval has selected Nexer to play an integral role in this transformative journey. With Nexer’s specialised expertise in Dynamics 365 and profound knowledge of manufacturing processes, they are well-equipped to support Alfa Laval’s objectives. Nexer’s proficiency in implementing ERP solutions, particularly tailored to the intricacies of manufacturing, ensures a seamless alignment with Alfa Laval’s strategic vision. Nexer’s involvement in the rollout team guarantees not only the successful implementation of the global template but also ongoing support to optimise operations and maximise benefits.
This implementation will empower the facility with enhanced control over material flows and the establishment of an agile, resilient supply chain. Through real-time visibility, dynamic planning, and advanced analytics, WHE Olmi will be equipped to swiftly address challenges as they arise. The transition to a new ERP platform not only ensures the future readiness of WHE Olmi’s operations but also strengthens global business execution, collaboration, and financial consolidation efforts.
