In 2018, Folksam faced a critical strategic decision: to modernize and digitize its operations to meet the demands of the future. But real transformation required more than just new technology. It needed people who could drive innovation — young talents with fresh perspectives and cutting-edge technical expertise. That’s why Folksam, together with Nexer Tech Talent, launched its first talent program with the goal of creating a sustainable career path into the company for the next generation of IT leaders.
Digital transformation is not just a technological shift – it’s also a cultural and competence-driven one. Folksam needed a talent program that could not only attract and develop the right people but also embed the company’s values and create ambassadors for a sustainable working life. Future-proofing the organization required a new way of thinking about both recruitment and skills development.
Folksam’s talent program was therefore designed to attract, develop, and retain newly graduated IT talents. Throughout the program, participants took part in tailored training sessions, rotated between departments, received support from experienced mentors, and built networks across the entire organization. The focus was not only on technical development but also on helping participants understand and become part of Folksam’s values and culture.
Nexer Tech Talent was responsible for identifying and attracting the right candidates, delivering relevant training, and managing the project throughout the entire process — a contribution that proved crucial to the program’s success.
Since 2018, Folksam has run six rounds of the program in collaboration with Nexer Tech Talent. More than 90 individuals have launched their IT careers through the program, and several former participants now hold leadership roles within the organization. Over time, the program has evolved to include elements such as thematic hackathons, partnerships with industry networks, and a focus on areas like responsible AI.
The newly recruited talents have contributed to key IT projects and played a driving role in the company’s digital transformation. By combining technical development with cultural integration, Folksam has fostered a more innovative and engaging work environment – strengthening the company’s long-term competitiveness.
With each new generation, the program has enhanced Folksam’s ability to adapt to future demands. Through its partnership with Nexer Tech Talent, Folksam has not only attracted exceptional talent – it has also built leadership, technical expertise, and innovation capacity for the future.
