Are you running a Microsoft Dynamics AX solution when your organisation’s top priority is digital transformation to enhance and grow your business? Then maybe you should consider upgrading to Microsoft’s latest cloud-based ERP platform, Dynamics 365.
According to Nexer expert Samuel Forsberg, there are several solid business reasons for leaving Dynamics AX and moving to Dynamics 365. Here are just a few of them.
Since October 2021, Microsoft no longer supports Dynamics AX. Even if your Dynamics AX solution is working now, it will be harder to manage as the product ages. With age comes the risk of costly system breakdowns. And if you need critical updates, country-specific functionality, or solutions to compliance issues, it’s difficult and expensive to get help. By running Dynamics 365 One Version in the cloud, Microsoft takes responsibility for support and maintenance so that you’re always up and running.
You need a scalable system to grow your business. With most solutions, you will at some point begin to need more servers and infrastructure to support the increased demand. This will in turn lead to complex development work and massive consulting fees. Dynamics 365 is an easily scalable solution that can adapt to any needs you have.
The better you can make high-quality data accessible, usable, and trusted, the better you become at forecasting and predicting the future. If you remain on Microsoft Dynamics AX, you miss the opportunity to take full advantage of your data. You miss the opportunity to understand and forecast what is happening in your financial processes, to understand what’s going to happen in the supply chain by obtaining and analysing data from the outside world. You’re simply missing the chance to better observe things in an early stage, understand what’s going on in real-time, and take proactive decisions. With Dynamics 365, you can utilise machine learning and AI to stay one step ahead.
Dynamics AX doesn’t offer the capability to automate operations quickly. To customise according to your needs, you must contact an ISV (Independent Software Vendor), merge the code, and manage the deployment across multiple environments. Sometimes, compatibility issues occur when the code is merged – should this happen, you need to adjust the code before deploying the system. Dynamics 365 is part of a suite of applications, including sales, marketing, customer service, field service, and project service.
These were just some of the reasons for upgrading to Microsoft Dynamics 365. To dig deeper into the subject, you can download our white paper “Reasons for upgrading from Microsoft Dynamics AX.”
