As part of the Automotive Weekend at Lindholmen in Gothenburg, Nexer invites leaders from across the automotive and transportation ecosystem to Business by the Docks – a strategic forum for shaping the future of automotive.
The forum centres on the theme The European automotive challenge towards 2035. The industry is entering a make-or-break decade, and the choices made now will shape Europe’s position in the next era of automotive. Global competition is intensifying, value is shifting from hardware to software and AI, and industrial ecosystems are becoming increasingly regional.
Business by the Docks explores what this transformation means in practice and what role Sweden and Gothenburg can play in shaping a stronger European automotive ecosystem.
The afternoon continues with networking at the new waterfront setting Vassen, creating space to continue the conversation and strengthen the collaborations needed for the decade ahead.
When: May 29, 11:00- 15:00
Where: The Yard, Lindholmen in Gothenburg
The event is based on Nexer’s latest trendwatch report Code over Chrome, outlining how the automotive industry is changing towards 2035 and what this means for Europe’s future competitiveness.
Through keynote perspectives, expert panels and networking, the forum explores what needs to be done now.
This is not another industry gathering.
It is a strategic forum for Europe’s automotive future.
Keynote: AI is no longer a tool, it’s the system
As software-defined systems evolve into AI native architectures, intelligence is becoming embedded across agents, machines and organisations.
In this keynote, Ödgärd Andersson explores how Agentic AI and Physical AI are accelerating the shift from incremental efficiency to systemic productivity, reshaping products, enterprises and society.
Keynote: The automotive spring. A new era begins
History moves in cycles, and so does the automotive industry. Even in today’s uncertainty, the first signals of a new spring are already visible.
This keynote explores how electrification, AI and new ecosystem collaboration are shaping the foundations of the next automotive era, and what it takes to recognise the shift early enough to lead it.
The battle for value is shifting away from the vehicle itself. As software, data, AI, and ecosystem control reshape the industry, the winners of the new automotive era will be those who own the platform not just the product.

As the global industry fragments into regional ecosystems, Europe stands at a strategic crossroads. One must now decide how to lead in software, energy, autonomy, and industrial partnerships or risk being squeezed between the U.S. and China.
