SUPPORTING EXPANSION DURING COVID THROUGH DYNAMICS 365

Outback Steakhouse, founded in 1988, is an Australian-themed American casual dining restaurant chain based in Tampa, Florida. It’s part of the Bloomin’ Brands group, an American casual dining company with more than 1,499 restaurants worldwide. The Bloomin’ Brands Group also controls the Abbraccio and new Aussie Grill brands. The group’s operations in Brazil include over 150 Outback, Abbraccio, and Aussie Grill units.

challenge

Initially, Outback Steakhouse worked with an IT partner to help them implement Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 on-premises solution. Outback needed a stronger partner with extensive experience in integration projects. So, they turned to Microsoft’s partner in Brazil – Nexer Brazil. Nexer managed to help Outback with improvements after go live with Dynamics AX 2009. Nexer Brazil has been supporting Outback ever since. In 2018 Outback realized that what they needed now was a cloud-based world-class ERP solution to accommodate their fast and robust expansion through scalability. This solution should meet their compliance and security requirements and could be connected to several other current and future applications.

Solution

To cater to Outback’s needs, Nexer Brazil implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365, a complete solution that supports Outback’s entire operations – including Accounting, Finance, and Supply Chain Management. Nexer Brazil could support several interfaces, such as credit card operators, logistics operations, and several other apps connected to the ERP by utilizing Azure Logic Apps.

Results

By implementing Microsoft Dynamics 365 and integrating it with other Microsoft platform solutions, such as Power BI, Outback has improved data processing performance. All in all, Outback has been able to grow and transform its business and focus on delivery during the pandemic. In early 2020 the group had 172 units in operation in Brazil, divided between the Outback and Abbraccio brands. Almost two years later, the growth is impressive, with several units split between Outback, Abbraccio, and Aussie Grill.
