Business Central Price Increase

What you need to know

Microsoft announced an upcoming pricing adjustment for Dynamics 365 Business Central, set to take effect on October 1, 2025. This marks the first price increase for Business Central in over five years, and it’s essential for both current and prospective users to understand what this means for their operations.

In this article, you’ll find deadlines, pricing increases, and next steps if you’re currently using D365 BC or starting your ERP upgrade.

MICROSOFT INVESTING IN INNOVATION

Microsoft’s decision to update Business Central pricing isn’t a sudden shift. It’s a reflection of continuous and substantial investment in the platform. Over the past five years, Business Central has evolved dramatically, incorporating hundreds of new features and functionalities across critical business areas like finance, analytics, supply chain, manufacturing, and more. These enhancements empower small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) to manage end-to-end processes on a single, powerful, and increasingly intelligent platform.

Microsoft has added many new features to Business Central. For example, they’ve included Microsoft Copilot, like having an AI assistant that can help with everyday tasks, such as writing product descriptions or making sales orders faster. The ERP also now offers real-time financial analysis and can automatically handle money tasks using AI, giving businesses clearer insights. Microsoft also improved the reporting and analytics tools, making it easier to use data to make smart decisions. Plus, Business Central works better with the Power Platform, which means you can automate more tasks and create custom apps.

Planning ahead

This pricing update presents both a challenge and an opportunity for businesses leveraging or considering Business Central.

For existing BC users, we recommend reviewing your current licensing to understand how it will impact your overall costs. You should also look at the latest capabilities in Business Central, especially those driven by AI, to maximize your return on investment.

If you are implementing BC in the future, you’ll want to factor the increases into your budget. If you’re on the cusp of a decision, purchasing licensing before October 1, 2025, could allow you to start at the current lower rates for your initial subscription term.
