D365 WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT Implementation<\/h1>\n\t\t\t\t

A U.S.-based packaged goods distributor serving grocery retailers and consumer brands initially\u00a0operated\u00a0with Dynamics 365 for Finance and integrated with a third-party warehousing platform. This setup required data synchronization between systems and resulted in frequent inventory and order discrepancies. To address these challenges and improve real-time inventory visibility, they decided to transition to D365’s native Advanced Warehousing Management (AWM) functionality.\u00a0<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n

CHALLENGE<\/h2>\n\t

The existing product and inventory design\u00a0were\u00a0not compatible with the use of AWM functionality. Data synchronization limitations\u00a0in\u00a0the original system required negative inventory within D365 to accommodate\u00a0integration\u00a0timing\u00a0and\u00a0inventory\u00a0discrepancies.\u00a0

The organization\u00a0operates\u00a0three warehouses with different picking processes, including voice picking and conveyor\u2011based\u00a0workflows.\u00a0Additional\u00a0challenges included managing dynamic shipment planning, ensuring real\u2011time inventory accuracy, and\u00a0eliminating\u00a0the reliance on negative inventory practices. Given the time\u2011sensitive nature of the business,\u00a0accurate\u00a0expiration\u00a0date tracking was also critical.\u00a0<\/p> \t<\/div>\n\n\n\n

SOLUTION<\/h2>\n\t

Using out\u00a0of the box\u00a0and by developing custom utilities, all products and inventory were\u00a0bulk converted to\u00a0leverage\u00a0the full potential of D365 AWM.\u00a0Negative inventory was no longer\u00a0permitted\u00a0since warehousing functions\u00a0no longer were\u00a0reliant on third party services and integrations. This kept inventory more\u00a0accurate\u00a0and\u00a0eliminated\u00a0technical troubleshooting between two systems.\u00a0

D365\u2019s\u00a0material handling equipment interface (MHAX) was\u00a0utilized\u00a0to\u00a0develop\u00a0a\u00a0framework\u00a0for voice picking capability.\u00a0Transport load functionality within the system was extended to create flexibility in planning and preparation of loads to be shipped to customer locations.\u00a0<\/p> \t<\/div>\n\n\n\n

RESULTS<\/h2>\n\t

Two of three warehouses have successfully completed\u00a0go\u00a0live,\u00a0and the migration to D365 AWM has streamlined IT operations by providing a unified platform for warehouse management.\u00a0
Successful conversion of products and inventory along with support of voice picking has resulted in a seamless transition for end-users with minimal impact\u00a0on\u00a0their daily workflows.\u00a0\u00a0
The organization\u00a0has experienced improved system reliability and inventory\u00a0accuracy,\u00a0which have enhanced operational efficiency. The third warehouse is scheduled for future rollout, with expectations of similar positive outcomes.\u00a0

With the third warehouse go\u2010live on the horizon, the organization is close to completing its full transition to D365 AWM.\u00a0The strong momentum from the first two deployments sets clear expectations for another successful rollout, and we look forward to sharing the next chapter of this success story soon.\u00a0<\/p> \t<\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\t
