“THERE’S NO BETTER FEELING THAN HELPING A CANDIDATE GET THE JOB OF THEIR DREAMS”

JOHANNA, RECRUITER AT NEXER TECH TALENT

Johanna Norman has worked at Nexer Tech Talent for more than seven years and was one of the first employees of the company. She loves coaching and helping tech graduates find their dream jobs and is passionate about making the perfect match between client and candidate.

What is the best part of your job?

There’s no better feeling than helping and coaching a tech talents to their dream job and having satisfied clients who develop candidates along the way. I love being able to deliver the best candidate experience possible throughout the recruitment process. The match itself is my passion where I have a knack for picking up on details that candidates mention and that I know my clients are looking for. Then I think these two need to meet. That feeling is unbeatable, when you have a candidate you know would fit into a team and when the client’s experience after an interview is answered. I live with that feeling for a long time and it means I never get tired of my job. There’s always another candidate to guide, another one our clients can’t afford to miss.

How do you think about finding the right role and company for tech talent?

For me, it’s a mix of understanding both technically and developmentally what a tech talent is looking for in their future work and then, with my customer knowledge, taking them in and helping them where I think they would thrive. A combination of technical understanding but also people skills. To help unbiasedly with what I think could be a candidate’s next dream job.

What do you look for in a tech talent?

The right educational background is absolutely essential, but for us the most important thing is not that you know everything, but that you have a willingness to learn. I look a lot for curiosity, but also the courage to question and come up with new ideas, which is a recurring demand from our clients. But most of all that you feel a passion for what you do! You’re usually best at what you enjoy the most.

What tips do you have for talented techs who are about to apply for jobs after graduation?

Be yourself. Read up on companies and ask questions that are important and valuable to you. Bring me into your tech host – I may not understand everything, but I love to follow your thoughts on what AI can do for humanity or what the next cool feature in an infotainment system is. Dream big – no dream is too big. And don’t forget the value of being seen in person to better get a feel for the work environment and the people who may become your future colleagues.
