At Maverick, we’re a blend of various creative disciplines. Curious to learn more about us? This is your chance!
CX Strategist, Agile Project Manager, Service Designer
ajla.cano@nexergroup.com
What triggers your curiosity?
New technology. Especially if I see that there’s actual value for the end users. That really gets me started!
Sometimes, work is an uphill struggle. How do you cope?
I ask myself: why do I want this? Where does my motivation come from? When I have the answers, I also have the encouragement I need to stand up for myself. Instead of descending into hopelessness I tend to get constructive.
In what way is Maverick a good place to work?
I am constantly given the opportunity to learn new things. Also, I have the great fortune to work with very genuine and pragmatic individuals. Even though Maverick is part of Nexer, it has a certain small-business feel to it. The atmosphere is very caring and accepting.
UX Designer
alexander.glorud@nexergroup.com
How would you describe your team?
Mixed. It’s made up of many different types of people, but they’re all friendly, open, and unpretentious.
How do you come to do what you do?
I started out as a political scientist, but realised early on that I wanted to work in something more creative and solution-oriented. The assembly line has never appealed to me, I like well-defined projects, with a clear start and finish. I did some research with my eyes set on communication. Eventually I found UX. My then employer gave me the chance to try it out, and I knew at once that I had found what I was looking for.
What is your favourite tool?
Figma, without question. Everyone should use Figma, it can be used for almost everything!
UX Designer
amina.muftic@nexergroup.com
How come you chose this line of work?
I think it started when I was 14-15 years old. Back then, blogging was very popular, a trend that I latched onto. I started several of them and spent a lot of time designing them and writing html. But once it was time to start blogging, I lost interest. It was the creation itself that I enjoyed. As I got older, I found a course in interaction design and thought “this sounds like me”. From there, UX became the natural path to pursue.
What personal qualities do you find most useful at work?
My problem-solving skills and my ability to express myself verbally. I like giving presentations and teaching people things!
Name a dream client or industry you would like to work with.
My dream is to do something useful for society. The MedTech industry would be exciting, or something within law enforcement. Criminology has always interested me.
Service Manager & Business Requirements Analyst
analucia.castillo@nexergroup.com
Which personal qualities do you find most useful at work?
The personal traits I find most useful at work are responsibility, perseverance, and pragmatism.
How would you describe your team?
My team is full of smart, kind, comprehensive, and collaborative people. They are very supportive, open, and honest with their feelings. I learn every day from our cooperation and the challenges we are going through together.
Name a movie you never grow tired of.
Groundhog Day! I like it because it is so funny, and because it makes me see life from a different perspective.
Copywriter
andrea.svanberg@nexergroup.com
Which personal qualities do you find most useful at work?
That I am adaptable, both socially and professionally. I can move easily between different contexts, tonalities and topics.
Sometimes, work is an uphill struggle. How do you cope?
It takes a lot for me to get discouraged, I’m pretty happy-go-lucky and have never needed a strategy. But if I’m really feeling drained, there’s a lot of energy to be drawn from family, friends and colleagues.
How come you chose this line of work?
I’ve always been creative and in love with text. There is also a streak of perfectionism in me. A text, unlike a painting for example, can be made perfect. It is possible to construct a perfect sentence.
Do you have a favourite tool? Why do you like it?
DeepL, the world’s most accurate translator. It’s extremely good. You just put the text in and then polish it.
CU Manager
anja.edgren@nexergroup.com
What triggers your curiosity?
A lot of things. Being curious about people helps me understand other perspectives, which builds stronger relationships and makes teamwork easier and more fun. For me, learning and personal development is very important, and I read a lot. Now I am very curious about new possibilities and future challenges of ChatGPT.
Which personal qualities do you find most useful at work?
I am solution oriented which helps me anticipate and identify issues and find solutions together with my team. I am open to change, ideas and new perspectives which is helpful when co-creating in a fast and agile environment.
Sometimes, work is an uphill struggle. Do you have any tricks up your sleeve to get you through the day?
I try to keep things in perspective and remind myself that setbacks are a normal part of any process. It’s helpful to remember that challenges are an opportunity to learn and grow. To celebrate small wins along the way and keep a positive mindset is also essential.
UX Engineer
anna-maria.hjorth@nexergroup.com
How come you chose this line of work?
I’ve always coded. I learned to do it at stallet.se when I was a kid. I’ve also always had a talent for drawing, it’s been passed down in my family. Apart from that, I love solving problems, helping people, and streamlining. This job is perfect for me.
Sometimes work is an uphill struggle. How do you cope?
I usually listen to upbeat music, preferably fantasy soundtracks or hits from the ’80s. I am a gamer and lots of games have great music. When I listen to game soundtracks I can imagine myself fighting dragons instead of everyday problems. It’s a bit cooler.
Name a dream client or industry you’d like to work with.
The gaming industry, definitely. But I’d also love to do something that involves helping people. To work in healthcare, public welfare or a humanitarian organisation would be a dream.
Full Stack Developer & Tech Lead
anton.peetso@nexergroup.com
How come you chose this line of work?
I’ve always been interested in creating and building things, everything from LEGO to apps. I got into game development in high school, and when I was 17 I started making actual money selling scripts. That got me thinking about whether development might be something I could do full-time. One day I ran into Maverick’s CTO, Nils Ivansson, at the gym. I asked him if he wanted help improving the company’s website. That’s how I ended up here!
What triggers your curiosity?
The feeling that there are still things to improve and invent. That tomorrow will dawn, with new challenges and opportunities yet unknown to us.
Sometimes, work is an uphill struggle. How do you cope?
I try to tell myself that any problem will resolve itself in time. You can only do your best, and you can’t always win. I try to be cheerful even when things are tough, life is too short to sit around whining all the time.
What’s your favourite tool?
My code editor, IntelliJ IDEA. I tend to get into such a great flow when I use it. It makes me happy to get a lot done with premium quality.
Project Manager
astrid.luhr@nexergroup.com
Which personal qualities do you find most useful at work?
I am creative, driven, and structured. I get things done. As a project manager, I try to be responsive, to check in both with my team and with the customer and to have a helicopter view without forgetting the details.
Sometimes, work is an uphill struggle. How do you cope?
I exercise. I like the variety, it can be anything from yoga, padel or a long walk along the sea. Or a cold bath! It clears my brain, I solve problems, and feel so much better afterwards.
Do you have a favourite tool? Why do you like it?
Google. I use it too often and too quickly.
Creative Lead
camilla.larsson@nexergroup.com
How come you do what you do?
I think I knew already back in high school that I wanted and needed to create and develop things. Communication, products, or services. Digitally, physically, or strategically. I’ve never had a “regular” job, but always found myself in one agency or another, switching between different projects, industries, and brands. It suits me very well.
Name a dream client or industry you’d like to work with.
To me, a client’s goals and visions are key. A personal interest in an industry or client doesn’t necessarily translate into a good working relationship. But it usually feels good to work with a client who shares my values and gives me the opportunity to make a difference.
What is your favourite tool?
Instinctively, I would say my brain and my intuition. But if you are talking about traditional tools, it would have to be Figma or Miro. They’re both excellent tools for co-creation.
Project Manager & Team Lead
charlotta.ivansson@nexergroup.com
How would you describe your team?
I have such an awesome team! Curious, helpful, generous people, eager to meet each other and thirsty for knowledge.
How come you chose this line of work?
I actually studied system science and engineering but changed direction as soon as I finished school. My first job was as a project manager, and I realized right away that it suited me very well. I appreciate working towards set goals, and to steer people in the right direction. Helping others is a passion of mine, and project management is very compatible with my personality.
Are there any situations you find so intolerable you have to speak up?
I get upset by broken promises. Especially if it happens repeatedly, and without any reasonable excuses. I find that extremely provoking!
Project Manager
clas.karrlund@nexergroup.com
What personal qualities do you find most useful at work?
My social skills are very useful. I find it easy to talk to people and understand their needs. I am also well-organised and structured. I believe that freedom within a framework is the recipe for truly magical team deliveries.
What is your favourite tool?
The Microsoft 365 suite. Admittedly it’s not one tool but several, but a given for me. Used correctly, M365 can create productivity and efficiency in a tremendously powerful way.
Name a song you never get tired of.
There’s so much great music out there. Strange though, that all your feelings already seem to have been written down and set to music by someone. If I have to pick one song, it’ll have to be You’ll Never Walk Alone by Gerry and the Pacemakers. It means a lot to me, especially since it makes me remember the first time I visited Anfield.
Senior Front End Developer
danyil.savuliak@nexergroup.com
Which personal qualities do you find most useful at work?
My ability to handle stress. Work is full of stressful situations which can immobilise you, such as tight deadlines, insufficient preconditions, or lack of information. If I face a stressful situation, I cancel every plan that is optional and focus all my energy on solving the most critical problem. Sometimes I reward myself with a good meal, or something like that, when I’m done. It works very well for me.
Name a dream client or industry you’d like to work with.
The aerospace industry. I’ve developed software for aircraft configuration before and found it very interesting. I enjoy the challenge, the complexity, and the technical problems you face when working with aircrafts.
Name a movie you never grow tired of.
It’s actually the animated Pixar movie, Cars. It was the first movie I ever saw at the cinema. When I started programming, I acted just like the main character, McQueen. I thought I was invincible and knew everything. Now, with more experience, I realise that my knowledge is no more than a drop in the ocean.
Senior Communications Strategist & Copywriter
elin.mellbrand@nexergroup.com
Are there any situations you find so intolerable you have to speak up?
There are many. I don’t like injustice, and I tend to speak my mind. People who discriminate against women or who are lazy at other people’s expense, for example. Those kinds of things make me furious.
What is your favourite tool?
That would be my head. If I can just define a problem accurately enough, I trust my brain to find a solution to it!
Name a movie, book or song that you never get tired of.
Does a ballet qualify? Swan Lake by Tchaikovsky. The music is incredibly beautiful. I love the dance too.
Inhouse Manager
emma.boberg@nexergroup.com
Name a dream client or industry you would like to work with.
Life Science. It has a higher purpose that I find interesting. The body is amazing, as is the fact that there are people with the ability to improve people’s lives.
What is your favourite tool?
The brain. Other’s, and my own!
Name a book you never get tired of.
Fresh Water for Flowers by Valérie Perrin. A beautifully written and moving story. When I finish a book I usually move on, but I actually think I’ll reread this one.
UX Designer
frank.mortensen@nexergroup.com
How come you do what you do?
I started out as an Art Director, before UX was a profession. I often saw how well-thought-out design choices helped clients use the graphical interfaces I created with more ease. This sparked an interest in user needs and experiences, which resulted in the decision to become as a UX designer in 2009.
What personal qualities do you find most useful at work?
My ability to solve problems, my critical thinking and my creativity.
Name a movie you never get tired of.
I’ll have to say the whole Science Fiction genre. Sci-fi films interest me because of all the technology, and because nothing seems impossible.
Art Director & Content Creator
frida.alstrom@nexergroup.com
How come you chose this line of work?
I’m pretty good at learning digital tools, and I like colours and shapes. I’ve always been quite crafty, and eager to try different ways of expressing myself creatively.
What triggers your curiosity?
A lot, really. I can get curious by observing competitors, or ordinary people going about their daily lives for that matter. In an environment where you can express your opinions freely and are encouraged to think outside the box, you can sometimes see how people open their minds. I find that interesting and inspiring.
What is your favourite tool?
At the moment it’s probably After Effects, motion media is fun! You can create pure happiness with that tool.
Lead UX & UI Designer
gustav.ekblad@nexergroup.com
What triggers your curiosity?
New technology! It’s been a huge interest of mine ever since I was a child. Right now, I’m particularly curious about OpenAI, which I think has great potential. It will probably be used for all kinds of things in the near future.
How come you chose this line of work?
I was intrigued by the idea of combining creativity and design with technology and development. Initially, I set out to become a civil engineer, but I didn’t find it as interesting as I had hoped. I gave computer science a try, before I found my place in interaction design, which I loved.
What is the craziest idea you ever presented to your team or a client.
It might not be very crazy, but once my team set out to produce a phishing video for a client. I suggested that we’d use a Snapchat filter, to make it look like the speaker was wearing a fish hat. The general idea was for the video to go viral, but in the end, it just circulated among a small group of people.
Web Analyst
hilda.ahlqvist@nexergroup.com
How come you do what you do?
I love solving problems and looking for patterns. Numbers and graphs fill me with a sense of magic. I used to be an IT nerd hiding in a flight attendant’s uniform. Now I finally get to blossom!
How would you describe your team?
Talented, driven, attentive, caring, and lovely people, who take the time to help each other. They are happy, smart, peppy, and inclusive too!
Sometimes, work is an uphill struggle. Do you have any tricks up your sleeve to get you through the day?
I usually try to stay calm, go for a cup of coffee, and then start to work through things step by step. I tell myself to stop, drop and review; it works both at work and in everyday life.
Business & Change Manager
hakan.larsson@nexergroup.com
What is the craziest idea you have presented to a team/client?
I’ve had quite a few crazy ideas over the years, but the first that comes to mind is a communication project I presented to Volvo Group IT in 2013. The crazy thing was that we tackled their challenge with communication, film and storytelling. It was completely new for them, and became a game changer.
Name a dream client or industry you’d like to work with.
A brave and insightful company facing big challenges. It could be an innovative start-up or a massive industry that needs to make radical changes. My dream is to support them in that.
What is your favourite tool?
The gift of speech, my brain, and my colleagues. That’s all I need!
UX Designer
jacob.jansson@nexergroup.com
What do you think of Maverick as a place to work?
What I like most about Maverick is that my manager is an expert in my field. It’s really nice to have a boss who understands what you do! Maverick also has a lot of interesting assignments, but I think there could be even more. People are becoming aware of us now, I hope we will be even more visible in the market in the future.
What personal qualities do you find most useful at work?
I am very calm as a person, which I find beneficial when faced with problems or new projects with stressful deadlines. I’m also good at standing back to see the big picture and knowing which things are worth fighting for.
Name a dream client or industry you’d like to work with.
I have a dream assignment. I’d love to be given endless resources to design an entertainment system for long-haul flights. It’s a great opportunity to connect and engage people, as everyone is stuck together in one place. Such an assignment would be really exciting!
Senior UX & Visual Designer
jimmy.andersson@nexergroup.com
What triggers your curiosity?
New technology. And new cars, though that’s probably mostly because I’m at Volvo!
Name a dream client or industry you’d like to work with.
Something to do with sports. I’d love to work for a football club, for example. Maybe doing TV graphics for sports broadcasts, or computer games for football players. Designing football images would be fun too!
Name a movie, book or song that you never get tired of.
What a tricky question! I never re-watch movies, I barely read anything. Maybe a song… Yes! När vi gräver guld i USA with GES, of course!
Copywriter
joakim.eklund2@nexergroup.com
Tell me the craziest idea you ever presented to your team or a client.
When I worked for the game studio Hello There, I helped an advertising agency develop a campaign for Estrella. The target group was young gamers. I proposed a game where zombie potatoes from outer space would invade a potato field in southern Sweden and infect all the potatoes with zombie slime. When I presented the idea, you could hear a needle drop. Then someone broke the silence: “You might be on to something…”.
What triggers your curiosity?
I’m an extremely curious person who gets utterly immersed in stuff. I could tell you the height of 400 celebrities, for instance. I love to do research and try to understand the complicated. Medicine, psychology, and history are a few areas of interest. I think that my answer will have to be everything.
Describe your team.
We’re a responsible bunch, with good chemistry. We’re very productive and laugh a lot. In short, a great team.
CU Manager & Head of Web Analytics
joakim.hampus@nexergroup.com
What personal qualities do you find most useful at work?
I’m curious, opportunistic and have something of a go-just-go mentality. There are no limitations in my world; I am very optimistic about most things.
In what way is Maverick a good place to work?
Maverick is a collection of truly talented people who give each other space and opportunity to grow. Even though it’s a big company, I feel close to everyone. You are handed a great amount of responsibility, but also the freedom to pursue what you believe in.
What is your favourite tool?
Right now it’s Jasper AI, an artificial copywriting assistant. I like it because it makes my everyday life about a thousand percent easier.
Copywriter
johan.jarneving@nexergroup.com
How come you chose this line of work?
I think it all started during my studies at the School of Textiles. I had always enjoyed reading and writing, and suddenly I found myself working on a project with an advertising agency. That’s when I learned about a profession called copywriter, and what an immense impact design and communication can have.
How would you describe your team?
Quoting Brad Pitt’s character Mr O’Brien in The Tree of Life: “Toscanini once recorded a piece sixty-five times. You know what he said when he finished? ‘It could be better.’ Think about it”.
What’s your favourite tool?
A whiteboard and a pen, as they allow you to outline and share your ideas and trains of thought in an easy way.
Enterprise Architect & Integration Specialist
johan.sorlin@nexergroup.com
What is the craziest idea you have presented to a team/client?
The craziest idea… it has to be when I suggested that we’d replace the mainframe computers with PCs, back in 1986. I was working in a hardware store at the time, and the prospect of new technology was in general met with scepticism. But we made the switch anyway and afterwards my boss said: “Hey guys, what do you think? Couldn’t this be quite useful?”. The response was a deafening round of applause. I think that everyone suddenly understood the massive transformation that was about to happen.
What is your favourite tool?
My brain and myself. Beyond that, I’m still waiting for the next generation of tools that are better than the ones I have today.
Name a book, song or movie that you never get tired of.
I don’t think I can name a specific book, it will have to be the entire Hamilton series by Jan Guillou. I’ve read each book cover to cover. I’m very familiar with the environment, due to my background in the military. As for music, I’m a disco geek. Anything disco is me! The answer to both the song and movie question has to be Saturday Night Fever.
Production Manager
johanna.hallberg@nexergroup.com
What triggers your curiosity?
Human behaviour. I’m very curious about how people operate in different contexts and what makes a person change their behaviour. I like to delve into data and try to figure out what can be tweaked and what the outcome will be.
Name a dream client or industry you’d like to work with.
I would really like to work within the sustainability field, with environmental issues and recycling. It’s something I’m passionate about.

I like working at Maverick! We have interesting customers and brilliant employees. I have a great team where everyone is friendly, helpful, and open to new ideas.
What personal qualities do you find most useful at work?
I would have to say my patience and creativity. You need a lot of both when working as a front-end developer.
What is your favourite tool?
IntelliJ, which I use for developing. It’s a smooth and user-friendly tool that is easy to find different files in, compared to many freeware programs.
Copywriter & Scriptwriter
jons.martensson@nexergroup.com
Do you have a favourite tool? Why do you like it?
A blank piece of paper. Paper is cheap, you can throw it away, you can have a bunch of it. Whenever I get stuck, I pick one up.
In what way is Maverick a good place to work?
The people. Maverick is exceptionally good at collecting creative, energetic, good people. Individuals and professions that I probably wouldn’t have had the chance to meet elsewhere. I learn a lot from them.
Name an artist that you never grow tired of.
I tend to listen too much to the artists I really like, and ultimately get fed up with their music. But if I am to mention one it would be Barbra Streisand. On Sundays. Only on Sundays. Preferably the slow ones.

Name a dream client or industry you’d like to work with.
No one specific, but there are qualities which I appreciate. My dream client has clear goals, seeks our expertise, and has confidence in our competence and ability to deliver. An extra plus is if they are humble and open minded.

What is your favourite tool?
PowerPoint! I’m a true PowerPointarian. It’s a tool that’s easy to learn and understand. Everyone has access to it, and you can combine images and text, which is important to me.
Paid Social Specialist
krystoff.waszczynskileandin@nexergroup.com
What triggers your curiosity?
I’m curious about the customer journey. In my job, I’m usually only part of the start and finish, I wonder what happens in between.
Name a dream client or industry you’d like to work with.
I’ve always liked e-commerce. It’s the transparency that I’m fond of; it’s very clear how much you get out of the money you spend. Other than that, I would enjoy working with a large organisation, provided it is flexible.
What is your favourite tool?
At present it’s Jasper AI, a great tool when you need to optimise the advertising process. Just type in a chunk of text and choose a platform. It will generate content and headlines with the right tonality and number of characters for you.
Project Manager
leslie.guzman@nexergroup.com
How come you do what you do?
Because I’m curious, brave, quick, insightful, and a good listener.
Sometimes, work is an uphill struggle. Do you have any tricks up your sleeve to get you through the day?
I usually work out, eat, sleep, spread love and eat roseroot. It’s a killer combination which makes it a little easier to smile!
What is your favourite tool?
MindManager, because it’s so visual. Your files can also be converted to PPT, XLS or Word if you have the need for it.
Project Manager
linda.vrbanac@nexergroup.com
Which personal qualities do you find most useful at work?
I am an excellent listener and skilled at perceiving things that are said between the lines. I am good at including everyone and creating clarity. I would also say that I have a knack for building team spirit. I love a good laugh and try to make work as fun as possible for my team.
Are there any situations you find so intolerable you have to speak up?
Injustice. Gaslighting. For me, it is fundamental that everyone is treated with respect. Injustice makes me furious. When I notice that someone is being treated badly in a team, or during a meeting, I speak up.
Do you have a favourite tool? Why do you like it?
Spotify! Music has been my saviour in many situations. It lifts my spirits, makes me focus and become more cheerful. I would say that music is a big part of my work-life balance.
Project Manager
lisa.sendren@nexergroup.com

Websites, especially new ones. I’ve worked quite a lot with websites, and I like my comfort zones. I always strive to expand my knowledge within the fields I already know.
How come you chose this line of work?
I love administration, structure, timetables, and reports. I’m a bit black and white that way, I like to keep things neat and tidy. Also, I really enjoy marketing. I think it’s important to have fun at work, and I do!
What is your favourite tool?
Excel. When working with creative people, there tend to be plenty of ideas flying around. I like to capture and file them properly. Excel is easy, you can make good mind maps, it’s well-framed. Somehow, it fills me with a sense of serenity.
Communications Strategist & Copywriter
liv.jonsson@nexergroup.com
What triggers your curiosity?
Everything. I’m terribly curious, almost morbidly so. For example, I have a hard time working in open landscapes. There are too many conversations going on, and I have an urge to listen in on them all! Above all, it’s people who interest me; how they function and how they think.
What’s the craziest idea you’ve presented to a team/client?
That would probably be the idea my team presented to AstraZenica when they were to introduce Trial Master File. The new system had to do with documentation, which is quite boring. To add to that, it actually meant an increased workload for many employees. But we rose to the challenge and presented three fictional dudes and three steps to coolness: load up, check up, stay cool. It was a huge success. It really stood out, and people were sending in videos of themselves dressed as the three dudes. It was crazy.
Name one movie, book or song you never get tired of.
One book I keep coming back to is The Black Obelisk by Remarque. It’s set in the interwar years and is about a guy who sells tombstones. It’s quite slow and uneventful, but pretty crass and funny. A bit absurd. I like it a lot.
Copywriter
madeleine.hedberg@nexergroup.com
What is the craziest idea you ever presented to your team or a client.
It has to be when my colleague and I suggested a Christmas movie featuring Lars Kry wearing a reindeer filter to a Teams meeting. The idea of course stemmed from that Zoom video that went viral, where a judge managed to turn on a cat filter by mistake. We had 15 minutes to pitch the idea to Lars, so we were a bit nervous. Luckily, he liked it!
What triggers your curiosity?
A really good story. Preferably with an aha moment or a twist somewhere. A good story can come from a book, a film, or a lunchroom conversation. As long as it’s compelling, I’m hooked.
Name a book you never grow tired of.
High Fidelity. I’m not sure why. I think, perhaps, the timing was perfect the first time I read it. I see myself in the main character, in the way he thinks and ponders. Also, it’s written in a very witty way.
CU Manager & Head of Experience
malin.bryntesson@nexergroup.com
What triggers your curiosity?
Everything I don’t know. I’m particularly triggered by areas that are so foreign to me that I hardly know what questions to ask.
What do you think of Maverick?
My impression is that Maverick tries to be a modern company that constantly strives to be better. We practice what we preach and when the weather is rough, we roll up our sleeves and get to work!
Name a dream client or industry you’d like to work with.
I would love to work in an industry that really helps people. It would be great to be involved in making healthcare easier and more efficient, for example. Another dream is to work with environmental issues. I guess what I really desire is the ability to make a difference for present and future generations.
UX Designer
malin.sunbursjo@nexergroup.com
How come you chose this line of work?
When I started working, UX was not a well-known term in the tech industry. But I was interested in interaction patterns and visual design, so once the UX role came along, it was natural for me to go after it.
What personal qualities do you find most useful at work?
I’m very curious and consider myself quite humble. Humble towards colleagues, but also when confronted with problems. I find that useful.
Name a movie you never get tired of.
I’ve seen Amélie a hundred million times, and I could probably see it a hundred million more.
Service Designer & Change Manager
manilla.shillingford@nexergroup.com
How come you do what you do?
Because I seem to be quite good at it. I think I’m motivated by creating change and solving complicated problems. I’ve had many roles over the years, and it’s become more and more clear to me that I’m drawn to clients who have complex businesses and a desire to achieve something important.
What triggers your curiosity?
When I see that someone is genuinely passionate about something. Especially if I also feel it can generate great value. That makes me want to know more.
Sometimes, work is an uphill struggle. Do you have any tricks up your sleeve to get you through the day?
To dance away in the kitchen! My sulking benefits no one.
Web Analyst
maria.styverbjorne@nexergroup.com
What triggers your curiosity?
Statistics. I’ve always liked digits and data, wondered why the numbers turn out the way they do. Whenever I come across something I don’t understand I get an urge to find out what it means.
Name a movie that you never grow tired of.
I’m a great romantic, so it’ll have to be a movie with a happy ending. Preferably one where you get to shed a few tears before the curtains drop. Notting Hill, perhaps. Or Sound of Music.

Art Director
martin.widen@nexergroup.com
How come you chose this line of work?
I actually studied to become an engineer, but before long I realised that if I were to work with something for the rest of my life, I needed to enjoy it. To me, engineering was too much brain and not enough heart. So, I joined an advertising agency and enrolled in every Berghs course I could find. In time, I had re-educated myself!
What is your favourite tool?
I’d have to say Photoshop. It’s what I grew up with. It was the photo retouching I did as a child that sparked my interest and made me what I am today.
Name a movie you never get tired of.
Dazed and Confused. I must have rented it over 20 times at the local video store. It’s hard to pinpoint what I like about it. It has some magic in it, it just grabs hold of you.

UX & UI Designer
mattias.freij@nexergroup.com
What is the craziest idea you have presented to a team/client?
It was probably when I suggested that we’d kill a website instead of adding on to it. When created, it was only supposed to live for a month, but then it remained for a year and a half. When I was asked to develop it, I knew that it wouldn’t turn out well. So, I suggested that we’d scrap it and start over. If it was going to be a permanent solution, we needed to do it properly.
What triggers your curiosity?
Meeting someone who is very interested in their field, or really passionate about something. That ignites a little spark in me that makes me want to know more.
Sometimes, work is an uphill struggle. Do you have any tricks up your sleeve to get you through the day?
When working in construction, I learned that even the most boring tasks have an impact on the end result. So, my tactic is to toughen up, or break down and get back on track. I live on the hope that the next thing will be more enjoyable.
Business Manager
michael.bergfelt@nexergroup.com
What is the craziest idea you have presented to a team/client?
I have pitched many new and exciting ideas! For example, I helped develop a television format for a client, which was an instant hit. It went from idea to reality in just a few months. Another idea was an interactive language application that was realised just recently. I also developed a Christmas calendar for Samsung which explained all their products in a humorous way. I must say that my crazy ideas have been very successful!

My curiosity, proactivity, persistence, creativity, positivity, and ability to challenge.

I had an interest in visual production from an early age, and I really pushed myself to learn the trade. One day I managed to land a job as a news photographer. Project Manager
mikkel.breum@nexergroup.com
What triggers your curiosity?
All sorts of things, I’m super curious as a person. I spend all my free time learning new things: particle physics, intellectual history, biology, carpentry, house building, or music playing. I don’t think there’s anything specific that triggers my curiosity, it’s always on!
Sometimes work is an uphill struggle. How do you cope?
I’ve been pretty spared from difficult situations at work, but when they occur, I usually try to take a step back. It’s easy to get tunnel vision, and the lack of perspective often makes your troubles feel worse than they are. So, I go for a run or head over to the studio for a rehearsal. Occasionally I take on a new side project to look forward to.
What is your favourite tool?
I’m quite fond of TargetProcess and try to implement it whenever I can. If you’re going to work with a tool on a daily basis, it’s crucial that you like it. I find TargetProcess user-friendly, efficient, and aesthetically pleasing. It also enables good workflows.

Chief Technical Officer
nils.ivansson@nexergroup.com
How come you chose this line of work?
I had a thing for computers already in primary school, and quickly realised that I had a much easier time understanding them than others did. I think that’s where it all started. I thrive where I can make a difference and enjoy solving difficult problems. In the IT industry, they feed them to me constantly!
Name a dream client or industry you’d like to work with.
I don’t think I have any. To me, the most important thing is to be close to the client, or the client’s client if I work as a consultant. I want to see for myself how our product is put to use. Not finding out how, or even if, it’s being used is my nightmare scenario.
What is your favourite tool?
Archi, a tool for visualizing enterprise architecture. When you try to describe advanced conceptual architectures in words, it often leads to endless discussions and misunderstandings. The ability to convey these architectures in a simple and visual way has really been helpful.
UX & UI Designer
olha.novykova@nexergroup.com
How come you chose this line of work?
It was a step-by-step process. I knew from an early age that I wanted to study design, and in Kherson, Ukraine, there were two institutes where you could to that. It was a choice between becoming an art teacher and a graphic designer, and I chose the latter. After graduating, I worked a few years as a teacher at the university. One day I won an education grant and decided to take a web course, which eventually lead me to UX and UI.

Diverse, which is nice. We’re from different parts of the world, have different backgrounds and are different in age. All of that together allows us to see things from different perspectives. I value that.
What triggers your curiosity?
Problems that are deemed unsolvable. When someone says, “it can’t be done”, I get excited! Other than that, new techniques and tools that I recognise can be used to create better experiences for people.
Sometimes work is an uphill struggle. How do you cope?
I try to empathise with myself and others. If I’m having a hard time, I’m surely not the only one. It’s important not to get too caught up in your own thoughts and become paralysed. That’s why I usually choose to work closer to people and collaborate more, even if it’s more difficult.

Marketing Automation Specialist
philip.steinmann@nexergroup.com
What do you think of Maverick as a place to work?
Good! It’s a familiar atmosphere and we help each other out. When I worked in-house, representatives from each profession used to share snippets from their area of expertise with the rest of the team once every week. That’s how I learned about analytics and social media, among other things. It’s great that you get the chance to be inspired by others.

I would say puzzles, problems, or challenges. If I’m faced with a difficult problem, I can’t help but think about how to solve it. Bugs, for example. I can be incredibly curious about why they occur and how to get rid of them. I’ve learned over the years that it’s a great way to discover how a product works or is built.
What is your favourite tool?
In my current role, it’s definitely the editor. It’s where all the magic happens. Through the editor you can create something completely new, redesign something that already exists or fix what needs fixing. It’s amazing.
Name a dream client or industry you’d like to work with.
There are so many exciting industries! Looking back at my career, I’ve pretty much only worked B2B or B2B2C. It would be interesting and fun to learn how B2C works. Definitely global and high volume. Maybe a company such as Spotify, Netflix, AirBnb or Adobe.

shemina.chouhan@nexergroup.com
What is the craziest idea you have presented to a team/client?
I love strategic improvisation, so I’ve had a few crazy ideas over the years! For example, I proposed a Teams sing-along as part of an internal initiative to increase Teams usage. It was filmed of course, and used as part of the campaign!

Art Director & Creative Lead
ulla-britt.arenvid@nexergroup.com
Tell me the craziest idea you ever presented to your team or a client.
That must have been in the very beginning, when we were to make a film to establish Maverick’s brand. Everyone knew that Nexer, or Sigma IT as it was called back then, worked with tech consulting. But no one knew Maverick as a communications agency. We had even called ourselves Gothenburg’s most secret agency. I suggested that we’d step out of the closet. So, we made a film with an animated wardrobe which we literally stepped out of. Quite a few people found that idea a bit strange but that was how we launched our web site!
Which personal qualities do you find most useful at work?
My empathy and ability to perceive things that aren’t spoken. I am quite good at putting myself in other people’s shoes, understand the emotions and experiences of different target groups. I get which needs we have to satisfy in each solution.
